After a second heatwave in parts of the UK this week, temperatures have dropped slightly - but "very warm" conditions could be back soon.
The UK recorded its hottest day of the year so far on Tuesday, July 1, reaching 33.6C in Frittenden, Kent. This temperature beat the previous high of 33.2C which was recorded in Charlwood, Surrey, on June 21.
As usual this week, the hottest conditions were recorded in the south of England, but northern areas such as Greater Manchester reached the high 20C's, peaking at 28C on Monday, June 30.
Just days later, the Met Office has issued thunderstorm warnings affecting parts of Scotland and north east England including Newcastle upon Tyne, which are expected to cause some travel disruption and localised flooding.
Looking at the period between July 7 and 16, the Met Office long-range forecast warns that although there will be a cool and showery start to the period, warm conditions will be back.
